I’m not listening to the weather network anymore…

“Thunderstorm risk,” they said.

“Chance of showers,” they said.

“Bring an umbrella,” they said.

Yeah, because on a sunny cloudless day, it is safe to assume you’ll be soaked. You totally dropped the ball on that one, Weather Network. Last time, you said no chance of showers, but guess what? It poured like a crying hormonal woman watching The Notebook.

On a positive note, I did enjoy a nice walk :p, and the rain in Ontario is not as frequent as in Vancouver :p.

I almost got struck by lightning.

Mother Nature strikes again – pun intended – and I was almost electrocuted by her. Because Ontario winter wasn’t enough to diminish any hopes of emotional attachment towards this province, Mother Nature decided to set a spark close to me and almost set me on fire. Sure, I’m exaggerating, but I did feel a shock and saw a spark coming out of my umbrella. I wasn’t walking with it, I was just standing outside my workplace ready to walk to my ride. Luckily, nothing worse happened. I like watching thunderstorms when I’m inside, but it’s a whole different experience when I’m in the middle of it.

Ah well, I shall not let this get to me. I’ll tell this story to my grandchildren someday, while we sit near the fireplace roasting marshmallows. Nature can still be beautiful, and this IS a lovely province. It’s just Mother Nature has some grudge against it. What have you done before I moved here, Ontario? Here’s a picture of how great nature can be:

Will the weather just stop PMS’ng? Thank you.

Please, don’t get me wrong, the weather has definitely improved here in Ontario, but it’s still not quite where it needs to be. Last time I checked, this is Spring, not the Fall. The rain hasn’t been too bad, but the winds, oh my! I appreciate it when it’s warm and windy, because my face doesn’t turn into an icicle, but I want the high speed winds to stop just for a few days.

http://reactiongifs.com/?p=16696

My life doesn’t revolve complaining about the weather, but I just want well-behaved weather, is that too much to ask for? Well, apparently it is in this Province :p. It’s funny how when I lived in Vancouver, I had my rants over the rain, but now it’s all about the wind. Ah well, it keeps life interesting I suppose. As I mentioned before, I don’t mind when it’s windy BUT warm; however, it does cause some confusion when I’m hermit-ing in my room. The reason? When it’s windy and cloudy, the clouds will cover the sun every minute or so, and this my friends is when I don’t know whether to turn my lights on or not. If the clouds cover the sun, then it gets dark in my room, but when I’m about to switch on the lights, the clouds pass and reveal the sun again, and it feels like it’s noon when it’s only 4 pm. It becomes annoying, because it feels like someone is flickering the sunlight on and off. If this is how Mother Nature behaves when on PMS, I don’t want to know when she enters menopause…

What has Mother Nature done to you?

Rain? No problem! I have an umbrella…wait, you didn’t mention there’ll be wind!

I’ve given up. The only reason I choose to wear an umbrella is so my cell phone won’t get wet. Ontario has had beautiful weather lately…wait, sorry I was just dreaming. The weather has been warmer, but the rain and wind have come out to play. I get it, we do need rain and wind, sure, but umbrellas are pointless when they occur simultaneously.

http://reactiongifs.com/?p=14598

I walk a lot and perhaps it is my fault for walking in the rain, but my workplace isn’t too far to justify a drive or transit – Forgive me your Highness Mother Nature for trying to stay healthy – I just would like to come home from work without looking like a traumatized wet cat whose hair looks like it’s been electrocuted by the power of all demons.

http://www.cutecatgifs.com/wet-cat-2/

Umbrella size does not matter, I have small, medium, big, giant umbrellas, and the wind will often find a way to destroy them, blow them away, hit me with them, and make me look like a fool in the middle of the street (how did you do it Mary Poppins?). Not to mention passing drivers who can clearly see there’s a puddle in front of them (after seeing the car in front drive through it), on a residential street, and seem to have no consideration of pedestrians. They speed up just to make a fast turn. Seriously, how do they know I love getting splashed by passing speeding cars?

http://reactiongifs.com/?p=5933

I know I’m from rainy Vancouver, but please Mother Nature just give me a break :(. I don’t mind the rain when it is warm and not windy, or at least don’t brutalize my umbrella! How am I supposed to live my life to the fullest, if my pockets are full of water? I like to end things on a positive note, and I am thankful I can afford the proper gear, but I feel for those who can’t. I’m going to look into donating rain jackets to those who need it. I encourage you to do the same :), or something similar. I’m not too familiar with charities here, so I’ll have to do my research.

PS: I hope all of you are doing great :D.

Fellow Eastern Canadians, are we in Spring or not?

I’m just confused. Please, clarify this for me. Am I going crazy?

I feel like I’ve been through a time warp and back in winter. I woke up this morning, happy, confident, energetic, ready to wear my runners once again, only to find a fresh coat of snow in the front yard. Please, tell me we won’t be getting more snow! It’s been a very long winter and as much as I love building snowmen and falling on my bum on the slippery sidewalks, I do want to feel the sun shine on my face, I want to wear sunblock, I want to go to the store without wearing 10 layers underneath. I hope we don’t have such a terrible winter next time 😦

Mother Nature, please get the memo. Spring = flowers, sun, a bit of rain, dresses, NOT snow and freezing temperatures.

*singing* Winter, winter, go away, don’t come back another day

One of my hobbies

It’s Sunday!!! And guess today’s temperature? 11C? Nope, 15C? Nope…22C!!!!!!!!! Mother Nature finally heard my cry for help. It is cloudy and a bit windy, but this is the best weather we’ve had this year. So, thank you Mother Nature, stay awesome!

I’ve talked (a lot) about my love for flowers. I love them all, but my favourite are multi-coloured ones. One of my hobbies is to make flower arrangements for any occasion. I haven’t done them in a while, but I do want to start again (just like painting). You can look forward to future posts about this :). I like to make hand-made gifts and this is a beautiful way to show your love for others. I’m waiting until the weather improves so the flowers won’t die on the way home (the shop is within walking distance). Here are some pictures of a small table arrangement I made for an event.

Have a fantastic day everyone! Don’t forget to share the love 😀

What’s up with Mother Nature?

Oh Mother Nature, you’re always up to something, aren’t you? You didn’t stopped after you gave us a terrible winter — did I mention before my vacation, I slipped and hit my back and head? I was okay, though — you had to delay Spring and kept giving us snow while my friends enjoyed the beach and sunshine. Just when I thought things were going to get better, they actually did! The forecast for today was 15 C and it really was. I could not believe my eyes, I thought I was looking at the weather in Vancouver, or my ipod was broken. I put on a hoodie and went to the bank…BIG MISTAKE.

http://reactiongifs.com/?p=18942

I felt a bit of wind when I left my place, but I did not think too much about it. I was overwhelmed by the warmth I felt. I really thought I was dreaming or that I was suddenly transported to Florida —okay, I know it wasn’t that hot, but it felt that way compared to the awful winter we had— I felt happy, I felt like all the troubles in life left me. I was singing tunes and skipping by the front yard (okay, not really).

http://whatshouldblondegirlscallme.tumblr.com/post/48054036041/when-its-finally-not-snowing-in-april

And then Mother Nature decided to crush my spirits by sending a hurricane-like wind all over the city. It’s like Mother Nature here in Ontario is on eternal PMS.

http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/hellride.gif

But, I didn’t let that get me down. I told myself I was going to enjoy this walk even if I were to be swept by the wind. I pretty much did. The ENTIRE walk to the bank and to the market,  my hair was tangling, my hoodie almost flew away, and my glasses (yes, I wear glasses) did not protect me against the dirty dust. It is my day off today and I just wanted to go for a walk and relax, but nope, that wasn’t going to happen. I have to admit it was hilarious trying to escape the gusting winds, but Ontarian Mother Nature just loves to poke fun at me, and sometimes I just want to be left alone. Poor Sun, it comes out and shines down on us, and we can’t even enjoy its company. Seriously, what the heck Mother Nature? I’m about to lose it.

Random Photo of the Day #5…with a Story Starter!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m stuck indoors, because we have a freezing rain warning (Ontario is still stuck in Winter). So, it’s time for another random photo!

I starter a new blog posts series today, so if you want to check it out, here it is: Through the eyes of my childhood

This photo was taken in Vancouver, BC, in 2010. It was the year of the Winter Olympics and I was living there then. Honestly, it was such a great time for the city! Lots of events, lots of athletes, and of course the Olympic cauldron. I witnessed the Olympic torch being carried throughout the city, met Walter Gretzky (hockey fans know who he is), and ice skater Patrick Chan (who won silver at Sochi). Overall, it was good times!

Story Starter: The incandescent fire was felt through their hands, as they sat by fire not only for warmth, but to light their damaged hearts…

Of course! The world sort of rules me today (freezing rain)!

Short Story: Laura’s Closet – Part Five (last one).

Here’s the last part of my less-than-two-week short story project called, “Laura’s Closet”. I do wish I had spent a bit more time on it, but it served its purpose, which was to let go and just write. It was inspired by a conversation me and two of my good friends had during my vacation back home in Vancouver. As always, I hope it inspires you in some way! Do not be afraid to just write and let go.

I’m working on another short story called, “Jehmers Donsriell’s Bequest”. I’m working on it more than “Laura’s Closet,” because it is a story I started a long time ago and never finished. I feel very good about it, which is why I want to spend a good time crafting it. There is no date when I’ll post it, because I’m not done, yet. Below is an excerpt I posted a while ago. After that, you can find all the parts of “Laura’s Closet”. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jehmers Donsriell’s bequest
She felt its sharp teeth crumbling her skin, but not a tear was shed. She was paralyzed, but she could still feel the harrowing pain, slowly rising inside her body. It absorbed any energy that she had left, and she felt hopeless. She clung to the wooden floor with her black long nails, as a last attempt to escape, scratching her way out of her own despair. It wasn’t long before her hair decayed, and her teeth began to dust from the rusty toxic wind that blew on her face. Her lungs began to collapse, as she tried to escape her imminent downfall. At last, she caught what would be, her final breath. The only thought in her mind, was regret…
(continued)
Despite her efforts, Elena didn’t strip her off her power. Instead, she gave her a second one, the power of premonition.
Although relieved to have the power of seeing what she had been searching, it didn’t feel real.  She thought her rant to Elena was brutal enough to leave her powerless and without answers. Even though, she was speechless, she nodded and smile with gratitude. Then, Elena blinked and left, and Laura found herself in her bed, awakening early morning on the following day. “Was it all a dream?” She thought.
She sat on her bed for a few minutes, palpitating, touching everything around her, waiting for something to happen. Her eyes were sore as if she hadn’t slept for days, and a cold sweat spread throughout her body.  She placed her hand on her forehead and lied back down again. By the time she got up again, a couple of hours had passed.  She felt much better and didn’t want to waste more time. She quickly got ready and left to find Alliese and Sonia.
Before she left her building, she noticed it was pouring rain, but she had an umbrella ready. She experienced some déjà vu, but her suspicious were not confirmed, until she saw her neighbour approach. “This is a lot of rain. I should go back for an umbrella. Why is it that no one can predict such weather?” He said. She struggled to say something back, still in shock at the realization that she went back to the past. Or, did she? Could this have been the “truth” Elena was talking about?
She knew what was supposed to happen next; her meeting with Alliese and Sonia, to tell them about Mother Nature (now Elena). She stayed in the building’s lobby, and tried to contact them. But, something wasn’t right. She couldn’t find their numbers. She restarted her phone as an attempt to recover their numbers – she figured her cell phone had just crashed. However, all of her attempts had failed. She remembered she had the numbers written by her home phone. So, she went back upstairs to check –she knew their phone numbers, but for some reason she couldn’t remember.
She went inside her apartment, and noticed she didn’t have the numbers written anymore. “Something is definitely wrong here,” she said. She pinched herself a few times, just in case she was just dreaming. Everything seemed to be in order; except for the fact Alliese and Sonia were nowhere to be found. She felt lightheaded and slowly sat down on the couch, feeling like someone just tied a knot inside her throat. She took a few deep breaths; one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. She paused, noticing her laptop was on with an opened document. She took careful steps towards it, and came to a full stop once she was close enough to read what it said. Her widened eyes glanced at the screen, and her breathing increased heavily.
Her whole life appeared to have been typed. Alliese and Sonia were not her friends; they were two personalities of Laura that she created in her mind, to cope with the fact she did die at the hands of the killer she ran from in the woods. Suddenly, she was transported back to the woods, at the same spot where she met Elena for the first time. Elena could not explain the circumstances, because Laura still had something to learn. But, she talked about Alliese and Sonia as being two of Laura’s biggest worries within herself. They became alive to her, because they were parts of Laura that needed to find their own resolution.  Laura’s reaction was as expected; she froze solid where she stood, and it took her a while to let go of the denial. She was trying to retrace her steps, and kept track on what happened before and how it all fitted together, but she had to grasp the idea of not being part of the world anymore. She retreated into the woods, and asked Elena to let her cope with her new destiny on her own. She was defeated by her own fears in life, but she was going to figure out how not to let them win her over in death. Even though, it was not under the best circumstance, Laura started listened to her soul for the first time.
Elena was going to let her discover a new world for herself, and for now, she wasn’t going to tell her that she was not dead.
