Weekly Photo Challenge: Work of Art

It’s Friday (technically Saturday where I live) and it’s time for another Photo Challenge. Art is everywhere and if you use your imagination, you can discover different worlds. Here’s my take on Work of Art! Enjoy and have an amazing weekend!!! :D. Remember to spread the love ❤

Nature is art, and it provides inspiration to your imagination. This place made me feel like anything could happen. You know, like me finding the ring of power and defeating Sauron.

Will the weather just stop PMS’ng? Thank you.

Please, don’t get me wrong, the weather has definitely improved here in Ontario, but it’s still not quite where it needs to be. Last time I checked, this is Spring, not the Fall. The rain hasn’t been too bad, but the winds, oh my! I appreciate it when it’s warm and windy, because my face doesn’t turn into an icicle, but I want the high speed winds to stop just for a few days.

My life doesn’t revolve complaining about the weather, but I just want well-behaved weather, is that too much to ask for? Well, apparently it is in this Province :p. It’s funny how when I lived in Vancouver, I had my rants over the rain, but now it’s all about the wind. Ah well, it keeps life interesting I suppose. As I mentioned before, I don’t mind when it’s windy BUT warm; however, it does cause some confusion when I’m hermit-ing in my room. The reason? When it’s windy and cloudy, the clouds will cover the sun every minute or so, and this my friends is when I don’t know whether to turn my lights on or not. If the clouds cover the sun, then it gets dark in my room, but when I’m about to switch on the lights, the clouds pass and reveal the sun again, and it feels like it’s noon when it’s only 4 pm. It becomes annoying, because it feels like someone is flickering the sunlight on and off. If this is how Mother Nature behaves when on PMS, I don’t want to know when she enters menopause…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring

Another Friday, another Photo Challenge. The theme for this week is ‘Spring’. I love it! Sadly, Ontario isn’t being a great host for Spring so far, but it’s getting there. The temperatures are definitely higher, but I would like to see a bit more sunshine. Here are a few pictures about Spring. Enjoy!

Rain? No problem! I have an umbrella…wait, you didn’t mention there’ll be wind!

I’ve given up. The only reason I choose to wear an umbrella is so my cell phone won’t get wet. Ontario has had beautiful weather lately…wait, sorry I was just dreaming. The weather has been warmer, but the rain and wind have come out to play. I get it, we do need rain and wind, sure, but umbrellas are pointless when they occur simultaneously.

I walk a lot and perhaps it is my fault for walking in the rain, but my workplace isn’t too far to justify a drive or transit – Forgive me your Highness Mother Nature for trying to stay healthy – I just would like to come home from work without looking like a traumatized wet cat whose hair looks like it’s been electrocuted by the power of all demons.

Umbrella size does not matter, I have small, medium, big, giant umbrellas, and the wind will often find a way to destroy them, blow them away, hit me with them, and make me look like a fool in the middle of the street (how did you do it Mary Poppins?). Not to mention passing drivers who can clearly see there’s a puddle in front of them (after seeing the car in front drive through it), on a residential street, and seem to have no consideration of pedestrians. They speed up just to make a fast turn. Seriously, how do they know I love getting splashed by passing speeding cars?

I know I’m from rainy Vancouver, but please Mother Nature just give me a break :(. I don’t mind the rain when it is warm and not windy, or at least don’t brutalize my umbrella! How am I supposed to live my life to the fullest, if my pockets are full of water? I like to end things on a positive note, and I am thankful I can afford the proper gear, but I feel for those who can’t. I’m going to look into donating rain jackets to those who need it. I encourage you to do the same :), or something similar. I’m not too familiar with charities here, so I’ll have to do my research.

PS: I hope all of you are doing great :D.

Animal trash talk

The animals here are double the size than in Vancouver. Seriously, squirrels look like raccoons, and raccoons look like bears (exaggerating, just for the record). I don’t think this is because people waste food here, they do it everywhere, but I’m starting to think these wild creatures roam in our houses while we sleep. Sadly, we can’t get a restraining order against them, and why should we? They’re so cute! I wish I could adopt them all, but I’m afraid they’ll destroy my things (yea, because they would definitely go for my favourite nail polish, instead of my flesh). Then again, maybe our trash really is their treasure. They must be very optimistic creatures to make the most out of what they find in our trash cans.

There are birds I’m glad I don’t get to see here; seagulls and crows. I mind them because they have the audacity to steal your food right out of your hands. Those demons with wings terrorize the parks and harbours with their feathered pride. I’m so happy I can enjoy a walk without them proudly pinching my sandwich with their pestilent feet.

Okay, that second paragraph was a short rant :p. But, yes the animals are a bit bigger here. The other night I saw a raccoon crossing the street and I thought it was a small bear cub. Perhaps, I just imagined it, I don’t know. All I can say is that, “one does not simply walk into [Ontario].” Take us home, Boromir!

“Are your characters physically based on people you know?”

My novel has a lot of characters, but not all of them have been physically defined, yet. Right now I’m focusing on writing the entire story, I don’t pay attention to the grammar —but it does drive me crazy sometimes, it needs a lot of proofreading — and it took me a long time to decided not to, because I used to be afraid of the story not being good enough. If I think this way, I will never achieve anything. My novel will not be good for everyone, never. Take Lord of the Rings for example, eloquent plot, new language, yet there are a lot of people out there who loathe it! I didn’t know it was possible to loathe this masterpiece, but it is. My main goal is so inspire others and as long as I inspire at least ONE person, my goal has been accomplished. Which is why I haven’t focused too much on the appearances of my secondary characters. They are all loosely based on people I have met; the men are based on the types I like. The fact I don’t exactly have a ‘type’ of man in real life creates a diversity amongst my characters. If my novel ever gets published, you’ll notice that I focus more on their inner emotions rather than physically appearances (although, there are instances where I have to), and that is based on who I am in reality. I’ve lived in South America, U.S.A, Vancouver and now Ontario, so I’ve seen a lot. Hopefully, I’ll be able to visit Europe, New Zealand, and Australia in the near future to get more inspiration 🙂

Here’s a tip: Ask your friends for feedback, but do not change your whole story based on this. Use it to make a few changes, but do not get discouraged. Everyone has a different taste in books; some may not like yours, but others will. Follow your instincts and remember, you’re first writing for yourself, and then to inspire others.

If you’re thinking of writing a novel, poem, anything, DO IT! Life’s short and if you put it on hold, you never know what could happen in the future that might prevent you from writing.
