I haven’t snapped photos of squirrels in a long time. In fact, I forgot that I ever took any – that is until I found these photos. Squirrels are very fast, unless they freeze in fear when you approach them. Today, I saw a squirrel munching on some goodies next to a fence. I tried to pass it without it noticing, but of course that didn’t work. It stared at me for a second and I thought it was going to jump on me. I stood still and it tried to run under the fence, but it wouldn’t find an entry point, so it tried to run to the opposite side of the street, but then a car drove by, so it tried to go back under the fence, but failed again. It froze for a second on the sidewalk and then as soon as the car was gone, it ran to the opposite side.
It is true, a lot of animals are more afraid of you than you are of them. Poor thing probably thought I was going to step on it. I just stood and watched as the cuteness unfolded.
Here are some pictures of a squirrel from a long time ago!
Okay that sounds weird, but it’s sort of true. Half way home, I encountered a rabbit that was hopping on the grass. It hopped/walked with me for about a block, before it made its way to a nearby backyard. I didn’t want to take a picture, because I didn’t want to scare it, but it was a fun encounter. It looked average size, which I’m a bit surprised considering the trash in Ontario seems to be good enough to make the wild life grow twice their size. Then again, it probably means not a lot of food is being wasted. I have yet to see a raccoon, and when I do, I hope it’s not a rabid one.
I’d like to know why animals like to follow me. Perhaps it’s because I have the same schedule as a wild animal? Or am I turning into Snow White? I’m going to guess the former, because my singing sounds like demons pitchforking a thousand lost souls at once. Every time I see an animal outside, I want to adopt it, but I resist the urge due to the fact it’d be unfair to steal their freedom. If you see a rabbit, raccoon, fox, don’t be afraid (unless they’re charging towards you) and admire the beauty nature has to offer. Whenever I see raccoons outside at night, they don’t really care about what I’m doing, which means they want to get to their home safely just like you do.
Just something to think about for today. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, so we must take this moment to appreciate everything around us, because if it weren’t for our mums (and dads) we wouldn’t be here at all. I’m adding-on a bottle of Advil for my mum for all the headaches I have given her (well, I wasn’t bad, but you know, I still gave her headaches at times).
PS: I love to look at this photo. It takes me on an imaginary parallel universe 🙂
Daily Post asks: Are you a night owl or are you the early bird? What’s your most productive time of day? When do you do your best work?
Peter Pan and Tinker Bell visited me this morning and took me on an adventure of a lifetime. I got to fly all over Ontario! Yea, right… But, I did fly today. I flew out of my bed thinking I slept in – I didn’t. I dislike moments like those.
I set two alarms, each one is 15 minutes apart from each other. I do this to avoid sleeping in. It depends on the day and what I have to do – on my days off, I rely on my body clock. My first alarm for today was set for 6 am and my second for 6:30. I did this, so I could take time to clean my room before I went to work (I like to come to a clean place). I wake up fast in the morning, except for my days off. I’m not much of a morning person, which is the reason I make sure I wake up early, and then walk to work. I don’t drink coffee, so my routine is probably a bit more different than others :p.
My alarm went off at 6 and I immediately thought I had slept in. I jumped out of bed while my heart palpitated and then, I realized I didn’t sleep in, and I had woken when I precisely meant to. Well, the scare helped me awaken faster than usual :p. I can do my best work at any time during the day, but I definitely love my evenings.
Hello everyone! How’s it going? I don’t have a lot to update on, other than I went back to work this week. It’s been awesome so far, but I am exhausted! Tomorrow (Sunday, you know it might be Monday where you are right now) I shall just relax and do nothing…okay, I’ll clean my room and things like that. That’s all I have to say. I’m just happy I get to live another day :).
Today’s photo of the day reminds me of the beauty of this planet and how cheerful nature can be. Look at all those colours! I just love to stare at this photo — you know, in a non-creepy way — and it always inspires me whenever I look at it. Enjoy and don’t forget to unroll the love! 😀
Hi everyone! I hope the new week has been treating you well! IF NOT, let me know and I’ll call upon my army of penguins.
I added a little something extra to the title, because my random photo post has turned into updates, as well. It’s okay, though. It spices things up over here :D.
I woke up thinking it was Monday, but I guess my brain played an April Fools’ joke on me :p. Today was a good day, I went for a long walk (it’s finally sunny in Ontario!), and wrote my first post for the A to Z Challenge. I have a huge craving for cinnamon rolls, so I’ll probably have an unhealthy breakfast tomorrow. I’m learning French using the app called ‘Duolingo’. I know the basics, and I started using the app about 3 months ago, but I’ve been neglecting it. I have a French background so it’s only fitting that I learn the language. I already speak Spanish, so that’s out of the way (also have a Spanish background). Here’s hoping one day I’ll translate some of my work in French!
Today’s photos are of the most wonderful thing, okay ONE of the most wonderful things, in my life…drum roll please…FLOWERS. I love flowers, preferably colourful ones, but I’m not picky. I also love it when bees do not fly around them. I use flowers to let people know I care, to show my love, gratitude, or as a random gesture. I really do not need an excuse to give out flowers; I even give myself flowers (as sad as that may seem). Enjoy these photos and hope you have an awesome Tuesday and/or Wednesday (depending where you live). Ta ta for now!
Hey! I hope you’re doing good today :D. Remember, only 3 more days until the weekend! – if you’re counting.
Today’s photo of the day features a small town, Steveston, which is located in British Columbia. This is where they film one of my favourite TV shows called, “Once Upon a Time.” I love small towns. They’re a great getaway from the harsh realities of the city -I’m just being a drama queen. There are so many places I’d love to visit, and I hope to empty that bucket list in the future.
Have an awesome day/night/alien invasion (if you’re an alien trying to invade Earth) 😀
Story Starter: One of my favourite places to be…
Ps: I was going to hit ‘publish’ without uploading the picture hahaha
Okay, that was loud…well, I guess depends how you read it :p. I hope you’re all enjoying your Sunday! Today, I changed the entire layout of my room, and it turned out better than I envisioned. I’m so excited! I was bored of the old one, so I just woke up early and decided to make a change.
Today’s random photo is dedicated to GOOD memories. I think we all need to remind ourselves of the good we have in our lives, even if it isn’t much. This photo was taken during a Christmas lights exhibition in Vancouver. As you can tell, my favourite holiday is Christmas! And yes, one of the reasons I do is the release of different penguin merchandise during that time :)!
How about YOU? Any good memories?
Story Starter: And in fact, I took a walk down memory lane to replay…
Oh dear, I have such a sweet tooth. Surprisingly, my dentist told me I have no cavities (well, I don’t eat sugary treats ALL the time). I like lollipops, they’re fun, but they make me cranky. They’re sneaky little treats that scratch your tongue at the right moment. Do they have an artificial mind of their own? Just when you start to enjoy the flavour, it decides to attack. And okay, I wouldn’t mind if the lollipop was the only thing I was eating during the day, but what makes me cranky is that I can’t eat anything afterwards, without the feeling of my tongue being stung by a swarm of wasps.
Here, I thought my ‘period’ was bad. Try getting betrayed by a sugar treat and losing your appetite, because your injured tongue can’t seem to enjoy the foods you want to eat. At least, when you’re on your “day of the month” you can binge on chocolates, pizza, chips, cry, rant, Netflix, all while you roll sideways in your bed. But, there’s no way to get back at this sugary treat. Sure, you can stop eating lollipops once and for all, but like I said, it is very sneaky and you WILL get a craving for it at one point or another.
I still like lollipops and always will, but it seems like you can never win with desserts. You either gain weight or your mouth gets beaten. Oh humans, why couldn’t you create desserts that help you lose weight?
First of all, Happy First day of Spring! It feels like an ice apocalypse here in Ontario – poor Mother Nature probably got her heart broken by an Ontarian, and now she’s taking it out on all of us – but, I checked online and it’s supposed to get better.
It’s supper time for me, and therefore I’m hungry. How fitting would it be for me to post a photo of food? How about 2 photos? Today’s post contains a bonus! How awesome is that? However, in the spirit of being inspirational, I’m going to turn these photos into a learning experience.
How many times have we gone to the supermarket and impulse bought items, only to throw them away a few days later? I used to do that, not all the time, but quite a few. Let me tell you, now I only buy what I know I’m going to eat and it has worked for me. You have to remember how luck you are for having the means to eat at least, one meal a day. Even if you aren’t sure of what to buy, just buy what you know you will eat on that day, and then go to the supermarket the following day. It also gives you an excuse to get out of the house. Preferably, walk there and enjoy your city/town 🙂
