Do you have rules for waking up?

Not everyone likes to wake up to get up in the morning, but it is part of life so have to get over it. However, a lot of people have their own set of rules for waking up, to ease the torturing habit of leaving a good dream and a cozy bed behind. I don’t have a lot of rules, because I sleep like a rock and only wake up to strange noises, not familiar ones. But, just for fun, here are a few of my rules I like others to follow, and some of my routines:

1) I don’t talk in my sleep, but if you see a smile on my face, it means I’m having a good dream. Chances are, Robert Downey Jr is proposing and I’m accepting…you do not want to interrupt that (unless it’s an emergency).

2) Do not shake the fricking bed (or me)! Why would you do that?  If you call for my name out loud, I’ll wake up. There’s no reason to traumatize me.

3) To avoid being cranky in the morning, I don’t plan my breakfasts. This is to avoid disappointment if they don’t go as planned. I don’t drink coffee, instead I drink coconut or soy milk (I’m not lactose intolerant. I just prefer them) and/or orange juice. Sometimes, I do have drinkable yogurt. Here’s a little fact: orange juice calms me down :p. Forget alcoholic drinks; orange juice is my go-to drink when I’m under stress :).

Quaker – A to Z challenge

A to Z challenge letter: Quaker

Quaker

Question of the day, what do you usually eat for breakfast? What is your favourite breakfast? On my days off I usually treat myself to one of my favourite breakfasts. This is not only because whatever I eat in that morning, I’ll burn after at the gym, but because it is always good to treat yourself. I can get bored easily, so I’m always eating differently, but most of the time I’ll indulge in Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal (or berry flavour). I love maple syrup, and not because I’m Canadian. Oatmeal is warm, sweet, and fulfilling,  so what else can you ask for? Well, except for tea of course :p. One of my favourite breakfast consists of: sausages with maple syrup, harsh browns, scrambled eggs, strawberries and a glass of orange juice or coconut milk. I know, it’s a lot :p, but what the heck, I eat them in small portions. Treat yourself once in a while, especially to your favourite breakfast :). Not everyone has the privilege of waking up.

Random Photo(s) of the Day #12…with a Story Starter…and Ellie’s daily update

Hi everyone! I hope the new week has been treating you well! IF NOT, let me know and I’ll call upon my army of penguins.

I added a little something extra to the title, because my random photo post has turned into updates, as well. It’s okay, though. It spices things up over here :D.

I woke up thinking it was Monday, but I guess my brain played an April Fools’ joke on me :p. Today was a good day, I went for a long walk (it’s finally sunny in Ontario!), and wrote my first post for the A to Z Challenge. I have a huge craving for cinnamon rolls, so I’ll probably have an unhealthy breakfast tomorrow. I’m learning French using the app called ‘Duolingo’. I know the basics, and I started using the app about 3 months ago, but I’ve been neglecting it. I have a French background so it’s only fitting that I learn the language. I already speak Spanish, so that’s out of the way (also have a Spanish background). Here’s hoping one day I’ll translate some of my work in French!

Today’s photos are of the most wonderful thing, okay ONE of the most wonderful things, in my life…drum roll please…FLOWERS. I love flowers, preferably colourful ones, but I’m not picky. I also love it when bees do not fly around them. I use flowers to let people know I care, to show my love, gratitude, or as a random gesture. I really do not need an excuse to give out flowers; I even give myself flowers (as sad as that may seem). Enjoy these photos and hope you have an awesome Tuesday and/or Wednesday (depending where you live). Ta ta for now!

Unproductive day off

We’ve all had those lazy days, which strike specifically on days off work. It doesn’t always turn out as planned, which I guess is nature’s way of getting back at you, for her own amusement (you know, because Mother Nature has 24/7 PMS).

The Planning: It starts the night before, usually before you go to sleep. You tell yourself, tomorrow will be such a productive day. You have so many things in your mind, that you’d like to do. Carefully, you write down a list in your mind and narrow down your choices. Sleeping in, breakfast, gym, errands, cinema, friends? My goodness! You have a fantastic day ahead.

Decisions: The first you’re going to do for sure is sleep in. You set your alarm so you wake up 2 hours later than usual. After all, you need to have the rest of the day free, for all the fun things you’ve planned. You choose your breakfast. Healthy or unhealthy? It doesn’t matter, you’re just happy you’ll have time to have breakfast. Besides, you’ll be hitting the gym soon after. You check the gym schedule and find out there are a few fun classes you can try! It’s going to be the best day ever! So, after sleeping in, you’ll have breakfast, then gym. There goes half the day already, good planning so far! After the gym, you gotta send some mail, get some groceries, but that shouldn’t take too long. Then, you’ll clean your room, skype with a few friends, and hopefully hit the mall to take advantage of clearance sales. How about ending the day at the movies? Awesome! It’s set!

Day off arrives:

1) Alarm goes off! Yawn! Hit snooze. It goes off again. Yawn! Forget it, you turn it off. You want to finish this awesome dream. Wait, what? That’s not possible. It can’t be noon!!!!! You missed the gym class!!! Okay, relax. You still have half the day.

2) You’re now too upset to have a full breakfast, so you just eat a boiled egg and drink milk.

3) You calm down. Okay, you’ll exercise at home with your iphone app (because it’s like a fake gym). Ugh! You forgot to charge it, but it’s okay, you can still use it while it recharges. You workout and you’re happy.

4) You get ready to go run your errands, but then look at the weather and you see there’s a wind chill warning! There goes the daily walk. But, you won’t give in, you will still wear layers and get out in this freezing weather, and walk! So, you step out of the house, and as soon as you feel the cold wind, you regret everything you’ve ever done in your life.

5) You managed to run your errands, and there’s still a bit of time left to clean your room. You start organizing and cleaning to your favourite songs, when you somehow, decide to check Netflix. Bad idea! They’ve added a few movies. You take a sit…It’s now evening. Forget the mall, this movie is so good.

Conclusion: By the time you finish the movies, it’ll be time to get ready for bed. You know, for a nap, because you’ve taken most of the night watching movies.

The next day: You’ve only had a few hours of ‘sleep’ (because during your ‘sleep’ you were thinking about, how tired you’re going to be in the morning), and have an early shift at work.
