Random Photo(s) of the Day #12…with a Story Starter…and Ellie’s daily update

Hi everyone! I hope the new week has been treating you well! IF NOT, let me know and I’ll call upon my army of penguins.

I added a little something extra to the title, because my random photo post has turned into updates, as well. It’s okay, though. It spices things up over here :D.

I woke up thinking it was Monday, but I guess my brain played an April Fools’ joke on me :p. Today was a good day, I went for a long walk (it’s finally sunny in Ontario!), and wrote my first post for the A to Z Challenge. I have a huge craving for cinnamon rolls, so I’ll probably have an unhealthy breakfast tomorrow. I’m learning French using the app called ‘Duolingo’. I know the basics, and I started using the app about 3 months ago, but I’ve been neglecting it. I have a French background so it’s only fitting that I learn the language. I already speak Spanish, so that’s out of the way (also have a Spanish background). Here’s hoping one day I’ll translate some of my work in French!

Today’s photos are of the most wonderful thing, okay ONE of the most wonderful things, in my life…drum roll please…FLOWERS. I love flowers, preferably colourful ones, but I’m not picky. I also love it when bees do not fly around them. I use flowers to let people know I care, to show my love, gratitude, or as a random gesture. I really do not need an excuse to give out flowers; I even give myself flowers (as sad as that may seem). Enjoy these photos and hope you have an awesome Tuesday and/or Wednesday (depending where you live). Ta ta for now!

Random Photo of the Day #6…with a Story Starter!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well :). Mother Nature is on an constant PMS routine here in Ontario. She told the weather people we were going to have freezing rain and snow overnight and in the morning. Well, we had snow and that’s it. It didn’t even last long. Way to scare us Mother Nature! It’s not even Halloween! But, let’s move on to the photo of the day.

The theme for today is your lovely pets! When I was a child I had dogs, worms, roly-polies in a cookie tin, imaginary elf friends (not exactly pets, but they seemed to have acted that way), ants, and I think that’s it. My family and I stopped having pets, because we moved a few times and we all had busy lives. I didn’t have another pet until college, which was a pet hamster named Viggy Sidney. He was the coolest rodent in the universe, always mischievous and funny – We used to watch the movie “Ratatouille” together. I mentioned him in one of my earlier posts: https://worldruler007.wordpress.com/2014/02/11/my-late-hamster-the-actor/

Pets are not just that, they’re your companions, they’re there for you when you need them (if you don’t feel like talking to a human). So, today’s random photo of the day is dedicated to all those furry and non-furry creatures that put a smile on your face.

How about you? Did you or do you have pets?

Random Photo of the Day #5…with a Story Starter!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m stuck indoors, because we have a freezing rain warning (Ontario is still stuck in Winter). So, it’s time for another random photo!

I starter a new blog posts series today, so if you want to check it out, here it is: Through the eyes of my childhood

This photo was taken in Vancouver, BC, in 2010. It was the year of the Winter Olympics and I was living there then. Honestly, it was such a great time for the city! Lots of events, lots of athletes, and of course the Olympic cauldron. I witnessed the Olympic torch being carried throughout the city, met Walter Gretzky (hockey fans know who he is), and ice skater Patrick Chan (who won silver at Sochi). Overall, it was good times!

Story Starter: The incandescent fire was felt through their hands, as they sat by fire not only for warmth, but to light their damaged hearts…

Of course! The world sort of rules me today (freezing rain)!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

If you want to participate, check out the weekly photo challenge page: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/03/21/weekly-photo-challenge-reflections/

My photo isn’t the literal interpretation of a reflection; which is reflection in the water. But, it is a photo that I took in a moment when I wanted to get away from the city. I wanted to create a different world where I could escape without having to travel anywhere. This was taken during sunset. It is important to lose yourself and escape the harsh realities of our world. At the same time, it is also very important to come back and face your struggles. How else do you expect to become stronger?

Place taken: Vancouver, BC (you can tell by the rainy clouds :p).

Random Photo of the Day #4…with a Story Starter!

First of all, Happy First day of Spring! It feels like an ice apocalypse here in Ontario – poor Mother Nature probably got her heart broken by an Ontarian, and now she’s taking it out on all of us – but, I checked online and it’s supposed to get better.

It’s supper time for me, and therefore I’m hungry. How fitting would it be for me to post a photo of food? How about 2 photos? Today’s post contains a bonus! How awesome is that? However, in the spirit of being inspirational, I’m going to turn these photos into a learning experience.

How many times have we gone to the supermarket and impulse bought items, only to throw them away a few days later? I used to do that, not all the time, but quite a few. Let me tell you, now I only buy what I know I’m going to eat and it has worked for me. You have to remember how luck you are for having the means to eat at least, one meal a day. Even if you aren’t sure of what to buy, just buy what you know you will eat on that day, and then go to the supermarket the following day. It also gives you an excuse to get out of the house. Preferably, walk there and enjoy your city/town 🙂

If you need some ideas for snacks, here’s a list of my favourite ones: My Top 10 snacks.

Random Photo of the Day #2…with a Story Starter!

First of all, thank you to all of you for reading my posts! You are all wonderful! So, here’s a photo dedicated to YOU. I took it a few years back – I didn’t realize how interesting my life was years ago – on an ordinary day. I don’t remember exactly what I was doing, but it looks like I was on my usual walks around my neighbourhood (in Vancouver). All I remember is looking up at the sky and thinking, “Boy, that sure looks like a heart. I should take a pic!” So, I did! Nature has beautiful ways to remind you that the world has a lot of goodness in it. We all deserve to be happy and loved, and to think we are worthy; because we all are.

Your story starter is four words that you can use to write about something that is good about you, or that you love. You can comment, write or just think about it. I always say, “count your Blessings, not your mishaps”. There’s a lot of evil in this world, so it’s good to remind ourselves of the good within us.

Story Starter: I am… I love…

Celebrate with fireworks photos!

I found these fireworks pictures I took a while ago. A lot of people are enjoying this St. Patrick’s Day, but I believe everyday should be a celebration. Still, here’s some fireworks to -hopefully- inspire you :). If you’re not into dyeing your hair green, pretending to be a tall leprechaun, or trying to steal their luck, find another excuse to celebrate! We all have accomplishments. So, cheers to your past, present, and future successes!

My accomplishment from last night: I killed a spider in less than 5 minutes.

What I hope to accomplish: I hope to be able to lure spiders into a cup and throw them outside, so I won’t have to ruin my shoes squish them.

PS: I’ll post the last part of my short story, “Laura’s Closet” tomorrow :). I’ve been trying to get back to my Ontario personal schedule (I go back to work next month).

Vancouver Photography

Last weekend I came back from a 3-week vacation at my home in Vancouver, BC! I’ve been working on my first short story for this blog called, “Laura’s Closet.” You can read the first 3 parts below. I’m taking a short break from editing the last parts, and I also want to give everyone a chance to catch up. So, here are some pictures from home :). Enjoy!
