I love Netflix. I do get a lot for what I pay for each month. Thanks to it, the word ‘sleep’ has disappeared from my vocabulary. Netflix is a nagging little conscience that just won’t quit until it sees you binging on your favourite TV Shows or Movies, regardless of whether your eyes are red and shutting down, or you are alert and awake. If you have Netflix (like me) you’re probably craving a long and proper sleep. Here’s a reminder of what that’s like:
-Netflix makes you like movies you never thought you would. Your quality senses usually decrease at night, when you decide to watch a movie, because it has become part of your routine.
-Netflix is your lullaby. There are times when your favourite TV show or movie become your bed time story. Because sleeping on your own terms has become your weakness, and you must listen to your favourite plots in order to regain your sleepiness. You know, because how dare one go to sleep without listening to Rose cry as she realizes Jack has officially gained his wings (Titanic).
-Netflix is good for your budget. Ever had those sudden cravings or a scheduled trip to the supermarket? Forget it. Netflix will remind you not to go because your favourite scene is about to play. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself grabbing a plate of fruit, instead of going to the store to buy a box of ice cream cones, because yes the movie is THAT good.
-Netflix has somewhat increase your reputation. The staff at your local library will believe you when you tell them you’re thinking of checking out books and that you’ll actually read them.
-Netflix has changed the way you watch TV. On the rare occasion you decide to check your cable channels, commercials will drive you insane to the point of no return. You now have zero patience.
-Friends? What friends? Oh, you mean the ones you converted into loving Netflix and are staying home chatting with you when you could be hanging out? Oh yes, I remember.
-Netflix has made you movie greedy. How dare Netflix charge you so much per month and not have every movie in existence? After all, you have sacrificed part of your monthly clothing budget to pay for it. Yes, very first world problem.
-Netflix has made you forgiving. It may not have all the movies, but it only takes one TV show or movie that takes you down childhood memory lane for you to trust it again.
-Netflix: You have a paper? How about a long movie?
-Netflix: Homework? How about a career change? Watch movies and become a movie critic.
Netflix is awesome, though. It does kill boredom :p, and I can relive the good old memories by watching some of my favourite movies and TV shows, without commercials and whenever I want. It feels good having a bit of control despite the hectic work schedule! Hey, if your favourite dance scene comes out, you can dance to it without making a fool of yourself :p (well, that is until you do decide to show this dance to your friends and end up making a fool of yourself).
