Opulent motions of water

a gush of wind

and drops of rain

connects their souls

through marvellous melodies.

~~~
Problems corrode
amongst their deep desires
elevating hope
and caressing their dreams
~~~

Recurrence of interruptions

they run

and hunt for their eternity

despite repression of rebel warriors

~~~
Their love bond shields
desist surrender
warriors break
love is hold
refuse to let go
they triumph
Random Photo of the Day #11…with a Story Starter!
How are you guys doing today? I hope Monday treated you well (I know it can be sneaky and evil). Let me tell you it was WARM today, yes, Ontario…was…warm…TODAY. Thanks Mother Nature! It felt so good wearing a light jacket.
The A to Z challenge commences tomorrow and I’m ready! In fact, my good friend (I wish) Robert Downey Jr. posted this photo on his Facebook page. Let me tell you, that’s how I prepared for the challenge! They say on the challenge’s page that we can choose a theme or go random. Can you guess which one I’m choosing ;)?
I watched the series finale of “How I met your mother,” and let me tell you, it was good! This last season wasn’t great and I gotta be honest, I’ve missed a lot of episodes. I’m not going to spoil it, but I can say that the ending can be disappointing for some viewers, but it reflects on the reality of life. It went a bit fast, though, but there were funny moments (as always). I wasn’t a huge fan of the show, but it was entertaining to follow when I had the chance.
It’s funny how my “Random Photo of the Day” posts have turned into a medley of Ellie’s updates and photography. Ah well, that’s how life gets exciting! Here’s the photo of the day! I picked one of my favourite places, Niagara Falls. It’s so peaceful, you get beautiful scenery, and you get wet! Add it to your bucket list :).
Au revoir tout le monde! (trying to make my ancestors proud)
Story Starter: One goal on my bucket list…
I have a thousand aunts
editpics (26)
A thousand is an exaggeration, but it feels that way, and it is an amazing thing. You see, these “thousand” aunts of whom I speak are not my biological aunts, but they are the fruit of an everlasting friendship that was formed during my mum’s school years. I’m not going to mention names nor ages, because what’s important is what their sentiments have shown me.
A lot of times we take our friendships for granted, and sometimes there are poisonous friendships worth abandoning. But what they have taught me is that a solid friendship is not impossible. I have many solid friendships myself, and you have no idea how tight I hold on to them; not because I have to or I’m afraid of being alone, but because of their tremendous value they have brought in my life’ just like my aunts. “Oh,  you’re exaggerating. I’m sure they’ve made you uncomfortable at some point.” In all honesty, absolutely not. They’ve always shown me their effectiveness of ushering my life with joy. It has been countless times that my thousand aunts have been there for me and my family ; they are my family. They saw me in mum’s belly, they saw me as a baby, and they saw me growing up. I visited them and their children many times; some were older than me and some were babies and I called them ‘cousins’. I remember one of them at my 6th birthday party, he was (I think) less than a year old; he’s now in his early 20’s! In addition, I recall a visit to another aunt when I was little, and her daughters introduced  me to the Curious George series (the old school ones). My aunts opened the doors for me to explore other worlds and languages (some of their children spoke German), and always reminding me of living life in quality and not quantity.
They have always had a positive impact in my life, and responded within seconds to any struggles I, my family, or other aunts have faced. They were there when my grandma passed away, and were there last year when my grandpa passed away. They’re like the A-Team, except with Aunts, or Guardian Angels if you want a different name choice. There was even a point when one of my aunts became my substitute Math teacher. Of course, I did get in trouble with her for talking too much (at this point, my mum was used to getting these type of phone calls), but she was gracious and during that time, I enjoyed Math –after she stopped teaching me, I disliked it again (typical).
What inspired me to write this post  is the current undeserving mishaps life has brought them lately. Without going into much detail due to privacy, I can say that it is related to grief and health issues. This is one of the ways I want to honour them. However, despite everything that is happening to them, they never break, but they show courage, kindness, and Faith. What a wonderful thing is to have people surrounding you, who are selfless, and act from their hearts to ensure YOU are well. They probably do not realize the impact they’ve had in my life (and others), but I can attest to the positive imprint that they have marked (and continue to do so) in this world, and I will pass on their legacy to my future generations.
I have a thousand beloved aunts, not in the literal form, but it sure feels like it, and that’s a good thing. I feel like I have a thousand aunts, because they’re walking angels who show that friendship is everlasting. They remind me of the goodness in the world and that love and true friendships still exist. Hold on tight to those you love and the ones who love you back, because eventually, their lives and our lives will let go of each other.
PS: This is my 100th post!
Super excited for the A to Z challenge!!!
I’m always excited when I encounter new challenges, and this is another step into furthering my writing. If you haven’t signed up, you can still do until the end of today (March 30th). The challenge begins tomorrow: A to Z Challenge
The reason I’m doing it is because, why not? I love to talk and write and this gives me a great excuse to continue doing so. Besides, it will challenge me to think and imagine new places to explore. I’m also hoping to come up with more ideas for my novel :). There is always room for improvement, and I cannot wait to share more posts with all of you! My ideas start in my head and end on a piece of paper (or Word document). Hopefully, I don’t end up curled up in a ball and wailing  in a corner :p.
If you’re doing the challenge, best of luck! If you aren’t doing it, best of luck, as well :D.
Greased Pasta?
Happy Sunday! I hope it was a wonderful day! Today’s post is short, but I must share what I dreamed about today. Have you ever had one of those hilarious dreams where you are part of a musical?
I took a nap today (it’s becoming a Sunday ritual) and for some reason I dreamed I was making fresh pasta with friends, while dancing to ‘Greased Lightning” (Grease the musical/film in case you didn’t know). We’re talking major plot evolution throughout the dream. I was in the kitchen with friends preparing spaghetti from scratch…and let’s pause right there. I present to you Insanity Alert Numéro Un (practising my French): My friends and I preparing a meal from scratch would be an extremely rare occurrence in the life of Ellie, because our schedules rarely coincide. So, let’s move on.
I decided to turn on the music and for reasons I don’t want to know, I played the song ‘Greased Lightning.’ It just spun out of control from there; the pots flew, my friends and I jumped and danced on tables, and I sprinkled flour on a spinning wheel– do not ask me how we brought a spinning wheel in the kitchen, Sleeping Beauty syndrome? I mean, okay, I confess. I would do this in real life (except for the spinning wheel).
At that point, I was laughing in my sleep. I honestly realized I was dreaming and almost woke up, but I went right back to sleep. As soon as I did, I dreamed of my friend rolling out the freshly-made pasta, and my, oh my! The abundance of pasta was so incredible that I picked up strings of pasta, and dragged them on the flour-covered spinning wheel. What…the…HECK? Then, I woke up –because dreams love cliffhangers.
The most hilarious and bizarre dream I’ve had in a while –and that’s coming from me. I don’t know why the song played in my dreams; I haven’t seen the movie in a long time nor was I thinking of it at all. My brain has a twisted sense of humour, eh? Have YOU ever had these dreams?
Have an awesome week everyone! Remember, if you survive Monday, you can survive anything! And after Monday, only 4 days until the next weekend!
Poetry: Watering Flowers
If I’m watering flowers
I ignore your place
I hesitate and deny my hearing
I cannot face my worst fear.
 ~~~

When our stares meet

our flawed desires vanish

our souls are in peril

I loathe the emotions

do not smear your darkness.

~~~
The birds sing misery
I feel the strong currents
the petals drop on my feet
I do not look back.
~~~

Stop looking, they sing

it will not return

my sentiments are drained

why is it lost?

~~~
Wailing lament
floating with grief
waiting to sink
waiting to crash
waiting to be whole again.
Random Photo of the day #10…with a Story Starter!
Hey everyone! Did you take part of Earth Hour? I didn’t, I completely forgot about it :p – oops! But, anyway, it’s not like I don’t protect the Earth on a daily basis. So, to celebrate the beauty of this planet, here’s a photo of ME! Nah, just kidding hahaha. Not funny? Okay, fine.
I love marine life, I even considered becoming a marine biologist once (I wasn’t crazy). I love the mystery of it, we still have to discover so many creatures that live at the bottom of our global pool. It’s unnerving and it’s rewarding. Today’s photo of the day is of Jellyfish! Specifically, the Japanese sea nettle. They’re adorable and their delicate drift and alluring colours are the features that attract me to them. Enjoy!
Story Stater: S/he was mesmerized by its stunning beauty, drifting in the depths of the ocean…
